From Reggae to Riga
Our adventure began with a spirited drive toward Olecko, nestled in the Masuria region, just in time for the vibrant rhythms of a summer Reggae festival. The evening was a celebration of color, sound, and carefree dancing—a joyful launch into our journey.
The next morning, we pointed the camper north and crossed into Lithuania and later into Latvia, letting the open road guide us to a small, cozy campground called Labirynt. Surrounded by nature and tranquil views, this peaceful stop offered a welcome pause and a gentle reset.
With the countryside fading behind us, we passed through Riga, choosing to keep the wheels rolling rather than stop for city sightseeing. Our focus was on the path ahead and the unique accommodation that awaited.
That night we settled in at Rummu campground—a surreal site built within the grounds of a former quarry near an old prison. Stark walls and rugged terrain lent the place a haunting yet fascinating atmosphere that felt worlds away from the soothing landscapes of earlier stops.
From the joyful celebration in Olecko to the solitude of the Rummu quarry, this first chapter of our expedition was all about contrasts—each moment setting a tone of curiosity and openness for the miles to come.
