Saying Goodbye to Our Campervan
For the past four years, this little Opel Vivaro has been more than a vehicle. It has been our moving home, our shelter in storms, our warm place to return to after long hikes, our quiet balcony overlooking fjords, lakes, and mountain valleys. It carried us safely through more than 50,000 km, across borders of 20 counties, seasons, and landscapes — from the cold winds of Norway to the dusty roads of Georgia.
It was never just about the kilometers. It was about the mornings when we woke up to silence so deep it felt unreal. About cooking simple meals on the tailgate while watching the sun disappear behind a ridge. About the nights when the Webasto hummed softly while rain drummed on the roof. About the roof‑top tent that became our favorite bedroom under the sky. About the drawer system that somehow always held exactly what we needed. About the three bikes hanging on the back, ready for the next trail.
This van shaped the way we travelled. It taught us to slow down, to choose roads that don’t appear on maps, to stop wherever the view feels right. It made the world feel accessible — not rushed, not scheduled, just open.
And now, it’s time to let it go.
Not because it failed us — it never did. But because our way of travelling is changing, and holding onto a chapter just because it was beautiful doesn’t make the next one any easier to begin.
So we’re saying goodbye. With gratitude. With a bit of nostalgia. With thousands of memories packed into drawers, seat pockets, and the tiny imperfections that only we notice.
This campervan gave us freedom. It gave us stories. It gave us a way of living that we will always carry forward, no matter what we drive next.
Here’s to the road behind us — and to the road ahead.
